Honda Accord sedan still a winner | The Augusta Chronicle

Honda Accord sedan still a winner | The Augusta Chronicle
Even in troubled economic times, the long-running Honda Accord remains the second-best-selling car in the United States.

No wonder it stays popular. The Accord sedan is a recommended buy of Consumer Reports magazine and earned top scores recently in newly revised, tougher crash testing by the federal government. With refreshed styling, the 2011 Accord gets better gasoline mileage than its 2010 predecessor, too.

2011 Honda Odyssey Earns Best-Possible 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score in More-Stringent Federal Government Crash Test Safety Rating Program

2011 Honda Odyssey Earns Best-Possible 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score in More-Stringent Federal Government Crash Test Safety Rating Program

The all-new 2011 Honda Odyssey has earned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) best-possible Overall Vehicle Score1 of five stars and is one of the first two vehicles ever to earn five stars in each seating position for all three crash tests, each crash test category and the overall rating, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. The Odyssey joins the 2011 Accord Sedan as one of the few vehicles to date that achieves the federal government's best-possible five-star Overall Vehicle Score and five stars in the combined frontal and side crash safety ratings.
The Odyssey achieved its top Overall Vehicle Score with five-star ratings for the frontal crash safety test and both side crash safety tests2 in all evaluated front and rear seating positions and scenarios. Additionally, the Odyssey received four stars for the rollover rating3, the highest achievable in the light-truck vehicle class using the program's measurement methodology.

The newly introduced Overall Vehicle Score is part of the federal government's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) that is first being applied to 2011 models. As a convenience to new car shoppers, the Overall Vehicle Score represents the combined results of the overall ratings from the frontal crash tests, the side crash tests and the rollover-resistance into a single, summary score between one and five stars.
Additional information is available at www.safercar.gov.

2011 Honda Odyssey Receives IIHS Top Safety Rating

2011 Honda Odyssey Receives IIHS Top Safety Rating
The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has just announced that model year 2011 Honda Odyssey managed to score the maximum rating in the latest crash tests conducted by the institute. The vehicle received a Good rating for protection in front, side and rear-impact crashes, while roof strength in rollover crashes will be tested later this year.

The Odyssey reacted well to the crashes, with dummy movement well controlled in the frontal impact. "After the dummy moved forward into the frontal airbag, it rebounded into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury," IIHS said in the official results.

2011 Honda Odyssey review: Honda combines agility and utility in 2011 Odyssey minivan - latimes.com

2011 Honda Odyssey review: Honda combines agility and utility in 2011 Odyssey minivan - latimes.com
In the supermarket of automobiles, minivans occupy the fruit and vegetable section. Their vehicular nutrition comes from gobs of practicality, with healthy doses of economics and safety mixed in.

But just because they're good for you doesn't make them cool. Trust me, I was the kid with baby carrots at snack time.

Honda's 2011 Odyssey aims to change that. All the usual nutrients that ease parents' minds are there. But Honda has dialed up the cool factor, hoping to draw those parents who know just as much about PlayStations as they do play dates.

Toyota, Honda Join 2011 Tokyo Auto Salon

For Japan's legions of gearheads, all roads lead to the Makuhari Messe this coming weekend when the 2011 Tokyo Auto Salon throws open its doors.

As Japan's premier tuner/custom show, the Tokyo auto salon has always been this wild ride of cars, noise and aftermarket excitement and the 2011 show, with more than 600 cars on show and 361 exhibitors, has the makings of another classic.

Honda, amazingly, revives the NSX, unveiling a Sports Modulo edition of its classic midengine V6 coupe with genuine aftermarket parts. Honda also has the TS-1X test study model, based on the CR-Z hybrid coupe, but no further data is available on that prior to the show.

2011 Detroit Auto Show: Honda Civic Concepts

2011 Detroit Auto Show: Honda Civic Concepts
This ninth-generation Honda Civic continues with the current generation's signature "one motion, one form" design where "form follows function."

The car is smaller outside, but Honda says it will have best-in-class cabin space and retain a sporty and fun-to-drive spirit. Powering this fun-to-drive spirit will be one of three powertrains: a conventional gas engine which will get Honda's Eco Assist fuel-savings technology and achieve 40 mpg; a "near-zero"-emissions natural gas Civic and, for the first time, a Lithium-ion-battery-equipped Civic Hybrid. Honda said that the 2012 Civic will be slightly more expensive than the outgoing model, which currently starts around $15,600.

Honda CR-Z wins 2010 Japan Car of the Year — Autoblog

Honda CR-Z wins 2010 Japan Car of the Year — Autoblog
For the past 31 years, Japan has selected a Car of the Year award recipient. Over 60 jurors, composed mainly of Japanese journalists, vote on a vehicle worthy of the Car of the Year title, and the auto that receives the most nods drives away with the crown. Last year, that honor went to the redesigned Toyota Prius hybrid, which narrowly edged out the Honda Insight. This year, however, Honda took top honors with its all-new 2011 CR-Z.
